Overview
The SOL40-E1 is a WaterMark approved water softener designed to reduce water hardness and protect your pipes and appliances from scale buildup.
It uses automatic, time-based regeneration, backwashing at pre-set intervals for hassle-free operation.
Note: For volumetric regeneration, backwashing only when necessary to help save water and salt – opt for the SOL40-E3 model.
Why soften hard water?
Hard water contains dissolved minerals such as limestone, iron, sulphur, magnesium and calcium. These minerals cause scaling that can block plumbing and shorten the life of appliances such as hot water systems, dishwashers and washing machines.

Hard water is water that contains dissolved minerals such as limestone, iron, sulphur, magnesium and calcium. If these minerals are not removed from your water, they will cause scaling, eventually blocking plumbing and shortening the life of appliances – particularly hot water units, dishwashers, washing machines, etc.

Note:
Free chlorine tolerance is 1 ppm. High chlorine levels will permanently damage the softening resin and are not covered under warranty.
If chlorine exceeds this limit, we recommend a carbon pre-filter such as the WH2 or CFS Series. Please consult Puretec for a specific recommendation.
In any case, a carbon pre-filter is recommended to protect against chlorine spikes and prolong the resin life.
**** The warranty on the SOL system remains 6 years by default, but extends to 10 years* when the following conditions are met:
1. The SOL system must be installed with one of the following Puretec pre-filters:
WH2-55
FilterWall-F4, FilterWall-F5, FilterWall-F6
2. Both genuine Puretec cartridges and Softrol™ media must be routinely replaced per product instructions.
